🐾 Rolo the Hearing Dog Races for Life! 🏅

Last weekend, Wolverhampton witnessed a championship performance from Club member Rolo, the incredible hearing dog, as he took on the Cancer Research UK Race for Life alongside the members of the Inner Wheel Club of Tettenhall

With boundless energy and determination, Rolo trotted his way around the course, proving that heroes come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds. And at the finish line? A well-earned finisher’s medal, shining as brightly as his spirit!

A huge congratulations to Rolo and to everyone who participated. Over 10 million people (and dogs) have taken part in Race for Life events since 1994, raising over £970 million for life-changing cancer research.

Your efforts make a real difference, and we couldn’t be prouder! 💖🐶

🌍💙 St. Georges HUB – Empowering Lives in Wolverhampton 💙🌍

St. Georges HUB is dedicated to transforming the lives of Wolverhampton’s most vulnerable and marginalized men. Based out of Chapel Ash, the centre provides a safe, welcoming space where men facing challenges such as homelessness, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health struggles can find the support they need.

✅ One-to-one crisis intervention 💬
✅ Breakfast Club 🥣
✅ Help with housing, benefits & employment 🏠💼
✅ Life skills training & personal development 🎓🔑
✅ Community outreach & support programs 🤝💙

The staff and volunteers at the Hub offer guidance, hope, and a pathway forward, ensuring that everyone has the chance to rebuild their lives with dignity and confidence. 🐶🎉 Meet Rolo – Tettenhall Rotary’s First Four-Legged Member! 🎉🐶

We’re thrilled to welcome Rolo, the incredible hearing dog, as the first-ever canine member of Tettenhall Rotary Club! 🏅🐾

Rolo is more than just a furry friend—he plays a vital role in supporting his owner, Phil Griffin, who is profoundly deaf. Together, they attend Rotary meetings, engage in community service, and embody the true spirit of Service Above Self.

At a special ceremony, Rolo was presented with his very own Companion of Honour pendant, marking his official membership in our club. His dedication to helping Phil and his warm presence at our gatherings make him a perfect addition to our Rotary family.

🌟 Stratton Street Methodist Church Community Centre – Strengthening Park Village for Over 50 Years! 🌟

For more than half a century, Stratton Street Methodist Church Community Centre has been at the heart of Park Village, offering vital services and unwavering support to thousands of residents from diverse cultures, faiths, and backgrounds.

The Centre is committed to tackling issues such as social isolation, loneliness, unemployment, poverty, education, and health & nutrition. With over 20 different activities, the Centre provides opportunities for children, teenagers, adults, families, and senior citizens to come together, connect, and thrive.

The Centre’s projects include:

👶 a Stay and Play Programme providing a welcoming space for pre-schoolers and their parents/carers;
🍽 a Tuesday Lunch Club offering people the opportunity to enjoy a nourishing 3-course meal prepared by a local chef for just £5;
⚽ Youth Activities providing a safe place for young people to meet and have fun; and
🛒 a Community Shop offering affordable essentials at near-wholesale prices

In 2020 the Centre’s work was recognised with the presentation of the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Services

We’ve supported the outstanding work of the Centre’s volunteers by making a further donation to help deliver their projects. Together, we can create a stronger, more connected Wolverhampton!
